Intolerable Acts
To punish the colonists for the ruined tea, Parliament passed the Intolerable acts, which ended town meetings and closed Boston Harbor until the colonists paid for the tea. Parliament hoped that closing the harbor would give them what they wanted; however, instead it caused the other colonies to help Boston. On September 5, 1774, delegates from every colony except Georgia met to discuss British actions. Soon after this meeting, war broke out.
